Gunter

Gunter started his life in Minnesota. At the early age of only four months old he found himself in Colorado. Then he found what every rescued Dane hopes for, a happy, loving and caring home. Over the next two months Gunter, who was renamed to Gunther, found himself growing, learning and becoming a very handsome and well behaved Great Dane. He loved to play with the three children he was growing up with. He loved all the attention and care he was being given. Most of all , he loved being a happy pup.

On January 19, 2004 Gunther was taken in for his neuter. The surgery went very well and Gunther was almost completely awake when he suffered a massive heart attach. The Vet tried everything to revive Gunther, but it was not to be.

Gunther was one of our rescued Danes. While it is sad when any Dane is lost, but when it is one of the Danes you helped save, it hurts very bady. Everyone at GDALI has been deeply saddened by Gunthers crossing

We extend our sincerest sympathies to the entire Vertrees family. You gave Gunther a wonderful and happy home. Because of your love and caring, his all to short life was very happy and we have no doubt he will always be you in spirit.

Tiny

Tiny was a beautiful 2 year old that was dumped at a shelter. For two weeks he wondered what was going to happen to him. Then the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League was able to take Tiny into their care. They immediately found out that Tiny was very ill. He has Osteochondrosis and a tumor growing under his front leg.

After getting all the vet care possible Tiny Crossed the Bridge on 01/29/2004. For the time that Tiny was in the care of MAGDRL he felt love, happiness and care. Tiny fought very hard to recover from his illnesses, but in the end the Cancer was to aggressive to be stopped.

We send our thoughts to everyone at MAGDRL. We thank you for doing everything you could for Tiny and for being with him has he went on to what lies beyone.

K2

K2 was turned in to rescue as his owner decided after 8 years of having him, his girlfriend did not like him. K2 was too old for any interested people to give him a forever home. We adopted K2. He was the perfect "gentle giant" to any child or adult. The kids use to think of him as a foot stool when they couldn't reach the door. K2 would welcome their little feet as they would climb upon and use him as leverage to open the doors. He had this special trot in his gait as he would prance around the yard eager to play and please anyone willing to share his love. He will never be forgotten and always in our hearts.

With a very sad heart K2 is in our loving memories now. We helped him cross the bridge at the wonderful age of 12 on February 5, 2004

The Carroll Family

The Carroll family opened their home and their hearts to K2 four years ago when no one would have him. It is never easy to say goodbye to these wonderful creatures. It especially is hard when it is one of our own volunteers Danes. To the entire Carroll family everyone at GDALI sheds our tears with you and our hearts ache also. You gave K2 a wonderful life. He was happy, healthy and full of life. Thank you for being there for K2 and being there with him when it was his time to cross to what lies beyond.

Beautiful Nandi

On 04/28/2004 the Great Dane world lost a wonderful Dane. Louise Petersons Dane Nandi Crossed the Bridge. She was home and laying on her favorite pillow with Louise by her side

We in Great Dane rescue have benefited from the generosity of Louise Peterson and her artistic talent in sculptoring Danes. Nandi was often the inspiration behind those beautiful sculptors.

To Louise, we send our sincerest sorrow at Nandi leaving. We offer our support anyway we can and we share in your loss.

Samson

Samson was a wonderful nine year old when he crossed the bridge. This alpa, sometime grumpy gus was the most loving and careful Dane with people. He was my friend. My companion. When I didn't feel well, he was by my side. When I was happy, he was happy. Samson had me trained very well. I loved every minute with my "Moose". Thank you Samson for letting me put those crazy Christmas Antlers on you every Christmas. Thank you for the zoomies you use to get in the house. Thank you for fighting with me for extra space in the bed at night. Thank you for your little growls when I made you go outside when you were so confortable on the couch. Thank you for being my buddy, friend and companion.

Sweet Bella

It is never easy to say goodbye to any of these wonderful creatures. However, when one of your own rescued Danes Crosses The Bridge, it is very sad.

Bella crossed the Bridge on 05/24/2004 with her Foster Parents by her side. We say goodbye to this Sweetheart and know she will always be with us.

To Laura and Steve, thank you for giving Bella such a wonderful Foster home and everything you did for her. You made her days happy.
